The number of children living in poverty in Nepal grows daily. These children are innocent by birth and should not be viewed as criminals. They have no choice to be born into a poor family nor do they have the choice to decide if they will be healthy or disabled babies. As parents and guardians, we must care for our children and provide them with nourishment, an education, a safe environment and above all love.
Unfortunately, some children do not receive these necessities in life because their parents neglect them willfully. They have no supervision and are left to raiste themselves. In some under developed communities, raising awareness for the need to educate children has been a vital problem among the BADIES, THARUS, KAMI, SARKI, DAMAI, and PODE tribes. In other cases, children go to prison with no reasonable cause against them only because of their mother’s imprisonment of crime or supposed accusation. The environment of prison life does not promote a healthy atmosphere. It negatively affects their self-esteem and deprives them from any schooling at all. These children should be given equal opportunities for a decent education because they are the FUTURE STARS OF THE WORLD.
Children have pure hearts and their feelings and ideas are molded and shaped by the environment they live in. Economically disadvantaged and disabled children lack the resources to become educated citizens and often feel displaced. Children suffering from mental retardation also need extra support and care. Our mission is to motivate and help disadvantaged children to receive a decent education. As a result, The Scholarship Revolving Fund, Nepal (SRF) came into existence. With the money we raise we are able to send children to schools which provide resources for them to tap into their unlimited potential.
We saw the need and knew we had to establish and start working with the concerned children aging from five to nineteen years old in the Butwal Municipal region. We have also begun to extend our efforts beyond the Butwal region. Our vision is to raise awareness and reduce illiteracy in Nepal. Financially, our goal is to raise 25 million rupees (US $334,000) for this worthy cause and at this time we have raised a million rupees (US $13,335). We ask that you would consider joining us and help us to continue making a difference in the lives of these children in need. Thank you. |
